Local In-School and Out-of-School Prgrams

Catskill Central School District :
This is an Alternative High School Equivalency Preparation Program that is approved by the State Education Department. The class is scheduled twelve hours per week, Monday through Wednesday from 4-8. The program incorporates computer, individual and group GED instruction. The class assists youth in obtaining work readiness skills. Internship experiences and job placement can be arranged. Students must qualify for WIA Title IB Youth services and be a Greene County resident. Priority is given to Catskill School district residents.

Columbia Greene Community College, Workforce Investment Office:
This program is operated out of the Workforce New York Career Center. It provides career planning services and 12 hours per week of pre-vocational education. The program prepares students for college, which can also include preparing them for the GED exam. Internship experiences and job placement is also arranged for those who are unemployed.

Greenville School District:
This after-school program is designed for students receiving special education services. It involves students from all high school grade levels, ranging from freshman to seniors. Freshman students are involved in career exploration and awareness activities. Older students operate a graphic design school based business entitled Hometown Graphics. Students learn various graphic and desktop publishing applications. Students have developed forms to organize the business, meet with customers to take orders, submit proofs, and complete the design projects. All students are invited to attend field trips to businesses and colleges. Seniors participate in an internship aligned to their career choice. Students receive stipends for completion of after school activities. Students must qualify for WIA Title IB Youth services.
